The Drop of the Day: Elie Saab x H&M
In the dataRedDyed effectsSequins
Yesterday morning, shoppers queued outside H&M's Regent Street store ahead of the 9 a.m. opening. The Elie Saab collaboration had landed: around 55 pieces translating the Beirut-born couturier's red-carpet language — degrade sequins, fine lace, the house monogram — into a wardrobe with reported US prices from about $40.
The signatures are all present. A sequin blazer fades from gold at the shoulder to black at the hem, matched by a bandeau dress in the same ombre. Emerald gowns come with trumpet sleeves and lace inserts; gloves run elbow-length in embroidered lace. Even bridal gets a look — a mermaid gown with a hand-embroidered veil, a nod to where Saab built his name.
What makes this capsule land harder than the average designer collaboration is timing. Party season is eight weeks out and nearly every piece is built for it, yet the tailoring and knitwear give it a day-to-night range most collabs skip. It is also Saab's first collection to include menswear — a genuine expansion of the house, not a logo exercise.
