4/5The Coat Is the Outfit
In the dataCoat
This autumn's outerwear logic is simple: one coat does all the work, and everything underneath stays quiet. The robe coat is the purest version of the idea, a belted, evening-weight silhouette in silk or velvet that turns jeans and a fine knit into an outfit by itself.
The same instinct is driving the commercial drops landing right now. NikeSKIMS' first outerwear collection, which launched October 27, translates the label's body-conscious comfort into sculptural, performance-ready shapes: a crunchy nylon hooded parka and a high-pile sherpa layer, both in the neutral palette the partnership is known for.
The styling rule holds across price points. Keep the base slim and dark, let the coat carry the colour and volume, and add one quiet accessory at most. A coat this deliberate needs no competition.
- Wear it over dark denim and a grey knit, not over prints.
- The robe-coat version is a dry-evening piece; the nylon parka is the wet-day answer.
